Samuel Salomón Gromatzky, alias Groma, nació en Buenos Aires en 1895. Desolina Merlino, alias Derby, la mujer que lo acompaña en muchas de las fotos de esta colección, era de nacionalidad italiana y de y había nacido en 1891.

Hacia principios de la década de 1930, se presentaron en diversos teatros de variedades de Europa y Latinoamérica bajo el nombre artístico de "Derby & Groma". Su completa rutina incluía el tango y las danzas gauchescas.

A juzgar por las fotos y cartas que he encontrado, supongo que Groma volvió a Buenos Aires luego de viajar en gira y que vivió hasta muy viejo. Nada sé de la suerte de Derby.

Esta colección también incluye varias fotos y postales de colegas a quienes Derby & Groma conocieron durante sus giras.

Samuel Salomón Gromatzky, alias Groma, was born in Buenos Aires in 1895. Desolina Merlino, alias Derby, the woman who is with him in many of the photos in this collection, was Italian and was born in 1891.

By the begining of the decade of 1930, both of them performed in variety theaters of Europe and Latin America under the artistic name of 'Derby & Groma'. Their complete routine included the Tango and Gaucho style.

According to the photos and letters that I found, I guess that Groma returned to Buenos Aires after touring and that he lived many years. I now nothing of Derby's luck.

This collection also includes many photo-postcards from colleagues that Derby & Groma met during their tours.
